Selina Heyligers-Hare was born in the sweet soil that is music. Having parents that were both musicians, the passion for music was instilled in her from a young age. Their house was always filled with music and friends would come over to jam. At the age of five she started learning piano, and by 12 she was singing harmonies in her mothers blue grass band "The Blue Grass Babes".
At 13 she started to write her own songs, teaching herself guitar. In grade 8, while jamming with her friend on a spontaneous Halloween night they formed the band "Dead Simple". For over four years they played around Whitehorse participating in many Battle of the Bands, B.Y.T.E events, and Atlin Music Festival in 2013.
For the "Because I Am A Girl" concert, Selina started playing with Madi Dixon in the duo "The Morgan Girls" where they played originals and covers. They have played Adaka Cultural Festival and are still performing together. Most recently Sellina has performed two fantastic shows of her original music at the Atlin Music Festival and Blue Feather Music Festival (both 2015). Selina says she has been blessed to be surrounded by so many musicians to inspire her, and we are blessed to have such a talented musician at the beginning of what is sure to be a long and successful career.
